Q. How often do I need to apply the ointment?

A. Usually once a day to the affected area is enough but depending on the animal and the area on their body, it may wear off on their under carriage area (mostly dogs) so may need to be applied twice but if your dog is content no need to apply it twice a day. Each animal is different and so are their requirements with the ointment. Some have needed a couple of applications a day and others have used the ointment once over a period of a few days. For best results clean the area before re-applying to avioid a build up on their skin.

Q. Is the ointment supposed to be gritty?

A. Yes it does have a gritty texture due to the sulphur powder. The moisturising base will absorb into their skin but help stick and hold the sulphur to the skin where it's needed.

Q. Is it ok if my dog licks it off?

A. We don't want your dog licking it off as it does require skin contact to work, if they lick it straight off it won't get a chance to do it's job.

Q. How can I stop my dog from licking it off?

A. Some dogs have unfortunately taken a liking to the taste of the ointment so we suggest a distraction is the easiest method the keep the ointment on their skin and not in their belly.

Putting the ointment on just before taking them for a walk or giving them a meaty bone, ball play etc. are all good ways of distracting them for a while so the ointment can have good skin contact for a while.

Dog style t-shirts are also a good way for keeping the ointment on their skin and stopping them form licking it off.

If not successful with any of these you may need to try and E collar.

Q. How much do I need to apply?

A. Not a lot just a light layer over the affected areas and let it sit there to do it's job.
